Kathmandu, November 14
CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli says the government decided to scrap the agreement signed with China’s Gezhouba Group for the construction of Budhigandaki Hydropower Project after the Chinese firm denied giving it ‘sufficient donation’.
Claiming that the government has shown a fascist attitude, Oli warns that the next government to be formed after upcoming elections may choose to revoke them turn by turn.
In the light of recent attacks on cadres of the leftist alliance and the government’s decision to cancel the agreement, Oli says the government is working in cahoots with the Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’-led CPN Maoist, which is carrying out various activities in a bid to foil the poll-conducive environment.
Likening the government to the anti-poll Maoist outfit, Oli says, “Show me any difference between them. One seizes property, loots for donations whereas another snatches away the contract already granted.”
He adds, “The government is not paying attention to peace and security. The people in government are partnering with those who ambush leaders.”
The former Prime Minister was speaking at a function organised to introduce the leftist alliance’s candidates in Kathmandu district.
