Kathmandu, January 5
The central bank of Nepal says clients of banks operating in the country now onwards can deposit cash in their accounts through other banks too.
“The Board of Directors of Nepal Rastra Bank has endorsed a procedure in this regard on Thursday,” NRB Deputy Governor Chinta Mani Siwakoti says.
Meanwhile, the official says the central bank will implement the national payment gateway within next 18 months so that all money that goes out of the country can be monitored.
“In the first phase (of transaction system reform), we will develop the system of real time payment system followed by national payment gateway,” Siwakoti says.
Meanwhile, it has been learned that businesspersons are not attracted to the new system as they are not sure how transparent it will be.
