They say that food is not just about energy, it’s about an experience. One could say the same about the food culture here in Kathmandu. While traditional hubs like Thamel and Durbar Marg focus on food, there are places like Jhamsikhel (Jhamel) where dining has evolved into an experience.
Opened in March 2016, Tito’s Pub and Lounge offers its patrons just that. With its different ambiance and contemporary setting, the place is ideal for outings with both family and friends.
The outer area of the place resembles a traditional pub where one could enjoy a drink or two with their mates sitting on a wooden deck nibbling on Tito’s famous buffalo wings. Or one could relax in their inner lounge and enjoy the live music on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
The food served here is mostly Mexican, but overall their cuisines are mixed as they also have American, Italian and Indian food on the menu. The burgers and BBQ are equally popular.
For starters, I had the tacos because there is nothing in the world I like more than this Mexican food. The manner in which the Mexicans use their spices is sure to tangle the Nepali taste bud. The tacos were as good as any tacos found in the Valley, however, these didn’t come with a salsa sauce. The chicken in the taco was well spiced and the stuffing inside the tortilla was delicious. It’s the perfect food to go with your favourite beer.
The other snack I tried was the grilled chicken pita bread. The pita bread which is made in-house was soft and fresh. The filling inside the dish was juicy and full of flavours. What stood out was the grilled chicken and the mayonnaise which the eatery produces themselves.
Tito’s is a place famous for its snacks that go well with drinks and apart from the snacks, patrons also enjoy the momo, buffalo wings, and spicy wings.
Another thing that is good about the place is they have deals for almost the entire week. On Mondays, they provide most of their beverage for MRP. Wednesdays it’s ‘buy-one-get-one-free’ on all cocktails and beers. And on Fridays ladies get free cocktails.
Apart from that, they also host special events on the last Friday of every month. They invite bands to come perform for them. On the last Saturday of every month, they host beer and BBQ with a variety of beer and BBQ item on offer for the patrons to indulge in.
Tito’s is an ideal place to hang out in the evenings, especially on the weekends. Its unique ambiance and soothing atmosphere will make you want to go back time and again.
