Kathmandu, March 25
The government has decided to let grocery shops in the country open during the daytime during the lockdown period also. Earlier, the government had decided to let them open in the mornings and evenings only.
However, with the shops partially opened, they drew bigger crowds whenever they opened, increasing the risk of coronavirus infection. Hence, the shops now will be open throughout the day so that the customers can shop anytime they want to avoid the crowds.
Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the Home Ministry spokesperson Kedar Nath Sharma has appealed to those providing essential services and goods such as health, security, foodstuffs, drinking water, milk and electricity to run their businesses smoothly.
“Accordingly, we have also told the grocery stores selling essential goods to stay open throughout the day from Wednesday,” Bishwa Raj Pokharel, the chief of the Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s Office, says.
