Khatiwada: New budget will be capable of recovering Covid-19 loss

Finance Minister Yuba Raj Khatiwada has assured that the budget plan the government is preparing for the next fiscal year 2020/21 will be able to help the national economy recover the loss incurred due to the Covid-19 crisis.

Speaking in a meeting of the Finance Committee in Parliament on Monday, Khatiwada said, “The next budget will be made to enhance the economy weakened by the crisis.” He claimed the government had already started preparations toward that direction.

Khatiwada also informed that the government so far transferred Rs 3.42 billion rupees from other accounts to the Covid-19 response. Rs 2.34 billion was given to the Ministry of Defence whereas Rs 1.08 billion to the Ministry of Health, according to him. Likewise, Khatiwada informed the government deposited Rs 500 million into the government’s Covid-19 response fund.
