Kathmandu, February 4
The government has appointed Krishna Bahadur Karki as the new chief executive officer of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), the only stock market in the country.
A cabinet meeting held this Monday made the decision, it has been learned.
The position was vacant since the resignation of incumbent NEPSE CEO Chandra Singh Saud after he has been accused of insider trading in August last year.
However, the government had begun the recruitment process after months. Recently, a selection committee had shortlisted three people among 11 applicants and submitted them to the cabinet.
Around the same time, the government had sacked Bhishma Raj Dhungana, the chairman of the stock market regulator, Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON). However, the government is yet to fill the position.
