NEPSE: Stock market declines for fourth consecutive day

Kathmandu, April 23

The stock market continued its downward trend for the fourth consecutive trading day.

On Wednesday, the NEPSE index dropped by 32.38 points, closing at 2,655. This continued decline also impacted the daily transaction volume. Compared to the previous day’s turnover of Rs 8.32 billion, Wednesday’s turnover dropped to Rs 7.57 billion.

While the prices of 28 companies increased, 217 saw declines, and one remained unchanged. The Development Bank sector experienced the steepest drop at 2.09%. Most sectors saw declines of over 1%.

Sector-wise losses were: Banking (-1.23%), Finance (-1.15%), Hotels and Tourism (-1.01%), Hydropower (-1.78%), Investment (-1.76%), Life Insurance (-0.45%), Microfinance (-1.04%), Non-life Insurance (-0.97%), Others (-1.50%), and Trading (-0.30%). The Manufacturing and Processing sector remained slightly positive.

Two companies — Nepal Micro Insurance and Crest Micro Life Insurance — saw a 10% rise in their share prices. Radhi Hydropower increased by 4.33%, and Bindhyabasini Hydropower rose by 2.70%.

The most actively traded companies on Wednesday were Radhi Hydropower, NRN Infrastructure, Ngadi Group, Sanima Mai Hydropower, and HIDCL.
