Kathmandu, May 9
Gradually leading the life back to normalcy amid the lockdown imposed to control the coronavirus outbreak, the government of Nepal has decided to resume all government offices as normal from Sunday. It has directed the government officials to return to their duties from Sunday as well.
The decision was made by the Council of Ministers in a meeting on Wednesday.
According to the decision, one-third of the employees of banking and financial institutions, insurance organisations shall also resume work.
With the country inching closer to the end of the current fiscal year and the start of a new one, the government offices will have more internal works to complete, for which the government has decided to resume services with one-fourth of the employees, informs the spokesperson for the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Joint Secretary Rajendra Kumar Paudel.
The spokesperson for the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Joint Secretary Basanta Adhikari, says the employees will be mobilised and appointed as per the need of the public services, in different shifts adhering to all the recommended preventive measures, during this time of crisis.
Since the lockdown was first imposed on March 24, many of the employees have now gone to their families. However, all government offices had been shut down.
The presence of service seekers in the offices, however, is still uncertain.
