Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa has conceded that the government has not been able to completely stop the cross-border human movement between India and Nepal as the Covid-19 outbreak in Nepal is intensifying.
Claiming the trend of people sneaking into the country through the open border has decreased significantly, he says the government is working on to stop it completely. Thapa’s statement comes a few days after the government decided to open 10 crossing points only between the two countries until the next notice.
In an interview with News Agency Nepal, the minister said, “The government alone cannot prevent the Covid-19 outbreak. We can only win over this infection with citizens’ awareness and participation.”
