Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli says political parties should have an open mind for a constitution amendment if provisions in the constitution are found insufficient while implementing.
Speaking in a book launch organised at his own residence in Baluwatar on Friday, Oli reiterated the constitution is an amendable document but said amendments should be rational.
Oli’s statement comes on the eve of the Constitution Day to be marked on Saturday commemorating the promulgation of the constitution five years ago.
“It is not that the constitution should not be amended for the sake of stability. There might be a need to amend it considering needs of the country and the public practically while moving towards socialism,” Oli said, adding some amendments would also be necessary to advance achievements of the change and ensure justice, equality, and development.
