Surkhet, April 16
In a tough test, Karnali Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has been successful to save his position.
During a vote of confidence on Friday, Shahi received 22 votes of the 39-member assembly.
Apparently, some lawmakers of the CPN-UML, the party that had decided to vote against Shahi, supported him in the last minutes. Otherwise, Shahi’s CPN-Maoist Centre had 12 lawmakers and the Nepali Congress with six lawmakers had extended the support.
After the CPN-UML withdrew the support extended to his government recently, the CPN-Maoist Centre parliamentary party leader Shahi had registered a proposal to obtain the vote of confidence.
