Kathmandu, June 7
The government has formed a task force to finalise a procedure for issuing concessional loans to startups as announced in the budget plan for the next fiscal year.
Officials of the Ministry of Finance on Sunday held a meeting with organisations representing the private sector and formed a team to do needful homework for implementing the programmes related to startups and workplace-based training.
The ministry’s joint-secretary Mahesh Bhattarai heads the team that also includes representatives of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, and the National Planning Commission on behalf of the government, and of the Federation of the Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Confederation of Nepalese Industries on behalf of the private sector.
The team has been mandated to prepare working procedures and plans of action by mid-July as the new fiscal year begins then, inform officials.
Meanwhile, startups have said they do not have any hope from the government’s support as they do not trust if the announcements are effectively implemented.
