Kathmandu, August 15
The ticket counter at Kathmandu’s Gongabu Bus Park, which came into operation in 1999, is going digital.
The counters that had been shut at the bus station in Balaju since April 14 have now been reopened and changed into digital counters. With this new system, passengers can now easily see what seats are available and the timings of buses leaving Kathmandu.
Currently, there are only 32 such counters through which a passenger can purchase tickets to over 65 different districts. The person who sits in these counters will have to wear an official uniform and carry a badge.
The decision was made by Lhotse Multipurpose Private Limited who oversees the bus station along with Kathmandu Metropolitan City to try and avoid crowds at ticket counters. Digital payment is also being promoted through these counters as people can purchase tickets with the use of QR Codes.
Lhotse Multipurpose Private Limited’s chairman Deepak Kunwar says that the company wants to make the bus station of international standard and make it easy to use for passengers.
