Jhapa, January 31
An elderly man was killed in a wild elephant attack at Mechinagar municipality-13 in the Jhapa district on Monday. With this, the number of people killed in the last one week has reached two.
The elephant that strayed into the settlement from a nearby forest attacked local Khamba Singh Karki (75) while he was chasing it away.
Injured Karki died at Birtacity Hospital in Birtamod of the district, say the police.
The incident took place at 3 am today.
A local resident, Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari (63) was also killed when a wild elephant attacked him five days ago.
