Kathmandu, March 17
The government has decided to give a scholarship of up to Rs 500,000 to a child of civil servants.
Based on their academic qualification, the amount will be provided to the students for their higher education if their course costs up to Rs 2 million.
The Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration issued a guideline on Wednesday to facilitate the application and payment processes.
According to the guideline, the children of retired civil servants are also eligible for the scholarship. But, the applicants should be studying in the first year of their bachelor’s level studies at an institution constituent of or affiliated with a Nepali university.
The scholarship, however, will not be available to every applicant. The government has allocated quotas similar to the quotas imposed on civil service recruitment. Likewise, there will be a selection process.
If the government sees the need, students who will have studied with such scholarships will be asked to work for the government for one year.
