Kathmandu, July 12
Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and personalities from the Nepali film industry on Tuesday met to discuss issues like the entertainment tax exemption, digital board and welfare fund.
The team of film personalities led by producer and director Ashok Sharma met Shah asking him to waive 2 per cent of the entertainment tax and installation of digital boards across the city for promotional purposes. They also asked the mayor to increase the funds allocated to the welfare fund, informed actor and director Nirmal Sharma.
The filmmakers said the entertainment tax exemption would help sustain the industry which has been broken by the Covid pandemic. Shah had announced to waive off 2 per cent of the entertainment tax after he was elected the mayor.
The meeting was attended by Ashok Sharma, Nirmal Sharma, Deepa Shree Niraula, Nischal Basnet, Khagendra Lamichhane and Rabindra Khadka.
