Kathmandu, October 17
The government has declared a public holiday across Nepal on Tuesday to mourn cultural historian and polymath Satya Mohan Joshi’s death.
The biggest living authority in Nepali cultural history, Joshi, 103, died on Sunday morning.
Whereas Culture Minister Jeevan Ram Shrestha said on Sunday the government would declare a public holiday to honour him, a formal announcement was awaited.
According to a notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, a decision today declared the holiday for tomorrow.
