Kathmandu, February 10
The government has suspended Prem Nath Thakur, the general manager of the Kathmandu airport, after finding that he was involved in an attempt to get illegal benefits from Thai Smile, a Thai airline flying to Kathmandu.
Rajendra Kumar KC, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation, says the government has received an audio record of Thakur talking with the company officials with the intention to get something illegally.
The government has also directed the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal to carry out an investigation in this regard. The anti-corruption constitutional body, the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), has also been informed of the case.
Thakur was working as the chief of the Tribhuvan International Airport for the past two years.
