Kathmandu, February 12
A new environment-friendly public toilet has been inaugurated on the premises of the Department of Passport office in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu metropolitan city-11.
The smart toilet inaugurated Saturday was constructed with the help of Aerosan Sustainable Sanitation, an institution that has pioneered the concept of smart toilets in the valley.
The facility aims to provide adequate service facilities for the convenience of members of the public who stand in line from early morning to obtain their passports, according to the institution.
The ward chair Hiralal Tandukar inaugurated the toilet and expressed his gratitude to Aerosan and noted that more smart toilets should be constructed in the future in collaboration.
The institution’s Programme Officer Archana Shrestha said, “We are following the path shown by our late founding president Prakash Chandra Amatya. We will continue to form cooperation with the local government and construct more public toilets in other places too.”
The inauguration marks the eighth public toilet constructed by Aerosan in Kathmandu and Lalitpur since 2020.
