Kathmandu, April 2
Following the opening of the Rasuwagadhi border point between Nepal and China, the two governments have also agreed to reopen the Tatopani and Hilsa border points on May 1 for the full-fledged operation.
The transit points were shut down to control the Covid outbreak in March 2020. Following then, the Rasuwagadhi border was gradually opened for one-way and two-way trade activities before ultimately getting open for human movement too.
During this period, while China also said it would open the Tatopani border many times, businesspersons have been complaining about transit via the point which was the busiest before the pandemic.
But officials of the two countries made an agreement to open Tatopani and Hilsa during a meeting of the Nepal-China Coordination Mechanism on Border Trade and Cooperation in Lhasa last week, informs the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.
Narayan Prasad Regmi, a Nepali delegate to the meeting, says other border points would also gradually open now.
