Kathmandu, January 5
Sixit Bhatta, founder of the ride-sharing app Tootle, has been arrested.
Valley Police Chief SSP Bhupendra Khatri said that he was arrested by the team of Kathmandu Police Range on Thursday night.
A police report has been filed against him for alleged copyright infringement and criminal treachery.
According to Khatri, the dispute is connected to Tootle. Initially, Bhatta’s business partners lodged a complaint with the office of the Registrar of Copyrights, and subsequently, the issue escalated to involve the police.
“It looks like a dispute between partners, we have called the other side,” said an official of the Kathmandu Police Range.
Tootle was introduced in Nepal following the economic blockade. However, after the rise of competitors like Pathao and InDrive, Tootle ceased operations.
It was relaunched a few months ago.
