President Ramchandra Paudel is set to depart for Baku, Azerbaijan, on November 10 to participate in the 29th UN Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP29).
President Paudel will lead a high-level Nepali delegation to the summit at the invitation of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev. According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Paudel is scheduled to address the two-day “World Leaders Climate Action Summit” on November 12.
In addition, Nepal will hold a separate high-level session led by President Paudel on November 13 to spotlight its climate change agenda. A high-level meeting on “Addressing Climatic Loss and Damage in Mountainous Regions” is also planned during the conference.

As a party to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Nepal is currently preparing and implementing its National Adaptation Programme, aiming for completion by 2050.
Preparations are underway to present Nepal’s climate agenda at COP29, which will run from November 11-22. President Paudel is scheduled to return to Nepal on November 15.
