Kathmandu Chief Administrative Officer Guragain returns to office amid controversy

Kathmandu, April 3

Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s Chief Administrative Officer, Saroj Guragain, has reported to the office on Thursday.

Metropolitan police were also deployed to stop him.

The municipal police attempted to prevent him from entering at the gate, but employees intervened and facilitated his entry into the office.

Guragain had been on leave since December 22. After his replacement, Acting Chief Administrative Officer Govinda Prasad Sharma, also resigned, the metropolitan office has been left without a Chief Administrative Officer.

Amid this situation, employees have expressed anger, stating that they have not even received their salaries. They insist that under any circumstances, Chief Administrative Officer Guragain must be reinstated.

The metropolitan office had formed an investigation committee against Saroj Guragain, alleging that he approved the blueprint for Kathmandu Tower at the Old Bus Park without following due process.

Following the formation of the investigation committee, Guragain had taken leave.
