A 14-year-old girl from Mugu was gang-raped twice. The incident came to light after the girl was pregnant.
The police have detained five people for being involved in rape. According to the police, 30-year-old Basant Bahadur Karki of Chayanath Rara Municipality-5 Karkiwada of Mugu and 22-year-old Basant Rokaya of Soru Rural Municipality-8, office assistant of Agricultural Development Office, were arrested.
The other three arrested are minors under the age of 14. Police Inspector Bhupendra Budhathoki of the District Police Office, Mugu informed that four persons are absconding. It has been found that six minors were involved in the incident.
The survivor said that she was gang-raped twice on September 1 and 27, 2023.
She did not file a complaint about the incident until she faced problems with her health. She went to the health institution after stomach pain and it was found that she was 18 weeks pregnant. Only then did she report the incident.
“We are conducting a thorough investigation into this incident, and efforts are underway to locate the fugitives,” said Police Inspector Budhathoki.
