Full implementation of the new constitution is impossible unless and until three major political parties unite, Nepali Congress Central Working Committee member Gagan Kumar Thapa said on Wednesday.

He said this while inaugurating the fourth district convention of the Nepal Tarun Dal district working committee. The constitution has given 1.5 years for conducting local, parliamentary and national elections, Thapa said, warning: The country will land in a serious crisis in the event of inability to hold these polls within the given timeframe.

There’s a need to fulfill just demands of Madheshi parties and bring them into national mainstream, Thapa said, adding: A long-term master plan is required for the development of the Rara Lake, which is rich in natural resources.

He pledged to work towards this end. The Karnali region has been lagging behind because of the state’s outlook towards it, Thapa said, calling on the state to change its outlook. Karnali is rich, but the state has failed to draw benefits from its riches, Thapa pointed.
