Kathmandu, March 25
How often have you seen a minister in tears? That too a minister from a political party, which once was a party to a decade-long conflict that left thousands of people dead?
On Friday, members of the public and the media witnessed that rare spectacle outside the City Centre in Kamalpokhari.
Emerging from the centre after watching the movie titled Rahadani, which has Dabbu Chhetri as the director, Agriculture Minister Haribol Gajurel could not stop his tears. He wept like a child.
Director Chhetri said Minister Gajurel started shedding tears on watching some moving scenes.
“The part in which the cow of a poor family dies touched him deep,” Gajurel told Onlinekhabar. After that, I saw tears welling up in the minister’s eyes all the time,” Chhetri said.
Emerging out of the hall after watching the movie, Minister Gajurel seemed emotionally overwhelmed. Mediapersons sought comments from him, but words were hard to come by.
“This movie is based on facts…. Artists have presented what I saw in Qatar and Dubai. The movie’s based on reality, I think it’s about Nepali youths, who have gone abroad…” Gajurel could say only this much. Then he broke down and kept weeping for about 30 seconds. Director Chhetri took Minister Gajurel out as he kept weeping.
