CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Rautahat, August 31

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says his party’s election alliance with any party except the CPN-UML is possible, in the third phase of local level elections to be held in Province 2 on September 18.

Speaking with journalists in Rautahat district today, the key ruling alliance leader said his party was holding talks with various political parties including Nepali Congress, Federal Socialist Forum-Nepal and Rastriya Janata Party Nepal about the poll partnership.

“Not only with a single party, but we are talking with many people about the alliance,” the former prime minister claimed, “But, our party has already finalised around 70 per cent candidates for the elections.”

In another context, Dahal said he would put pressure on the government to declare Rautahat district as a crisis-hit district as it was badly affected by recent floods and announce various relief programmes.

He also blamed dams and embankments constructed by India for the severity of floods.
