Kathmandu, April 18
The vice president of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Dawa Lama has been released. He was arrested on Wednesday.
Although he was sentenced to five years in prison in the drug case, Lama was released after it was revealed that he had already taken an order from the Supreme Court to keep him on bail.
The team of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office arrested Lama and took him to Patan High Court on Thursday. SP and Spokesperson of Crime Investigation Office Rabindra Regmi said that Lama was released after receiving an order from the Supreme Court to keep him under surveillance.
Dawa was found guilty by the Patan High Court on June 3, 2007. He was sentenced to 5 years in prison and a fine of Rs 5,000. However, the police arrested him saying that he was absconding without paying the sentence.
He went to the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court and he was released after it was revealed that the Supreme Court ordered that he should be detained without immediate arrest.
