In 2024, model and actor Anna Sharma celebrated over a decade of working in film. Sharma, who made her debut in the romantic drama Jerry, is now gearing up for her upcoming film Aktor: Take 1, slated for release on January 29.
After her debut in Jerry, Sharma went on to act in Gangster Blues and The Man from Kathmandu. She also appeared in Sushanta KC’s music video Bardali, which became a hit. The video currently has over 44 million views.
In Aktor: Take 1, Sharma plays a central role. Recently, she spoke with Onlinekhabar about the film, her plans, and her character.
Firstly, what are you busy with these days ?
I am busy with the promotion of Aktor: Take 1. Similarly, the workshop of my upcoming film Maya Ko Maya is also running.
So far you have worked in six films. What have you learned from them ?
I got my debut movie Jerry without much struggle. However, I soon realized that to progress further in the film industry, I needed more experience, knowledge, and skills. With every film, I have learned how to handle different situations while portraying various characters.
I have understood that every craft and character needs to be approached with dedication and care. I fear being limited in my growth as an actor, so I strive to explore new things with each project.
So far, my journey has been a mix of good and bad experiences. Each one has been a lesson, and I have grown significantly from my failures as well.
In the upcoming film, what kind of role do you want to play?
I had always envisioned a dream character, and I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to portray that role. My other upcoming film, Maya Ko Maya, is a psychological thriller. It’s a female-centric film, and I’m excited about the role I have played in it.
Could you tell us more about a dream character ?
The kind of characters seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films fascinates me. His movies often feature characters from historical periods, which are challenging to portray. For instance, the way Deepika Padukone’s dialogue delivery varies in each of Bhansali’s films is remarkable. Bhansali’s portrayal of actresses is mesmerizing, and it is my dream to work with him.
Among all the characters you have played in six movies, which one is your favourite ?
Definitely, my character in Maya Ko Maya stands out because the movie belongs to the psychological thriller genre, something I have never explored before. The story revolves around hypnotherapy, a practice banned in many countries. I had so much fun during the shoot, especially with one scene that lasts 17 minutes. In that single scene, I portrayed a 17-year-old, a 20-year-old, and a 28-year-old. It was challenging but incredibly rewarding. Finally, I got the chance to play a strong, impactful character.

What is your role in Aktor: Take 1 ?
I play the character of Prakriti, the girlfriend of Pradeep’s character. Prakriti prioritises her boyfriend’s dreams and ambitions over her own. While she may seem like a supportive girlfriend, that is not the whole story. A person should first learn to love and value themselves. Because of her self-sacrificing nature, Prakriti ends up compromising a lot in the film.
What meaning does Aktor: Take 1 hold in your film career ?
It feels like Aktor: Take 1 is my comeback movie. My last film, The Man from Kathmandu, was released in 2019. Aktor: Take 1 feels like a teaser for what’s to come—there’s still so much more to do. More films are on their way, including Maya Ko Maya and Ramita Ko Pirati, with even more projects lined up to sign.
What are your plans for 2025?
Now I want to do movies back to back. I took a long break amid my career. Now the audience can expect more movies from me with great characters. Currently, I am getting offers from the movies I wanted to do. In 2025, three of my films will be released. The best is yet to come. This year I am also starting a business related to the glamour industry.
