Kathmandu, December 17
Nepali Police have arrested Maoist leader Bhuminanda Devkota on charges of raping a minor.
SSP Bhupendra Khatri told Onlinekhabar, Devkota, was arrested after a complaint was filed against him by a 17-year-old girl.
The minor has told the police that Devkota has been sexually abusing her for the past year.
Following the complaint, Nepal Police arrested Devkota and 27-year-old Dipesh Nepali. DSP Shiva Raj Budhathoki said Devkota and Nepali sexually abused the minor separately.
The survivor has been placed in a protection home after a health check-up.
