Kathmandu, January 25
Six individuals, including two foreigners, who allegedly deceived Nepalis by falsely promising to take them to Canada, have been arrested.
The arrests were made in Pokhara Metropolitan City Ward No. 10, following reports that several individuals were called for interviews.
The District Police Office, Kaski, detained two foreigners and four Nepali citizens on Tuesday. Those arrested are Parvati Sunar, 65, Rita Sunar, 37, Seema Sunar, 32, and Pradeep Upadhyay, 38.
Similarly, Nepal Police also arrested Canadian Rakesh Jaiswal and Indian Ishmit Kaur.
Parvati Sunar from Pokhara is accused of luring individuals by claiming that her daughter, based in Canada, could help them get a Canadian visa and help them get a job.
Allegedly, she charged a Rs 2,000 interview fee per person, stating that individuals from abroad had come to conduct the interviews. She and the group were even asking people for Rs 3 million if they passed the interview.
