Kathmandu, August 26

Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah has expanded his ongoing action to ensure underground parking spaces are properly managed and used to the government offices also.

Whereas Shah targeted private commercial buildings in the previous days and demolished illegal structures built defying the approved blueprints of the buildings, his team went to the Department of Passport office in Tripureshwar of Kathmandu.

The department also has its basement for parking, but that has been used as the waiting lounge. Consequently, vehicles would be kept on the roadside outside the office premises.

But, the metropolitan city government’s team went there on Friday and forced officials to remove chairs from the basement to ensure parking.

During the city government’s investigation, it has also been revealed that the department did not get its building’s blueprint approved by the local government.

Mayor Balen Shah has already directed the Kathmandu District Court also to ensure the basement is properly used for parking there.
