Bhaktapur Dairy fined Rs 300,000

Kathmandu, December 12

A dairy, which failed to mention the expiration date on the label of its dairy products, has been fined Rs 300,000.

A market monitoring team from the Department of Commerce Supplies, and Consumer Protection imposed a fine of Rs 300,000 on a dairy in Bhaktapur on Monday.

The monitoring team found that the dairy had not complied with labelling regulations and had re-packaged old milk without indicating the new packaging date for distribution to the market.

According to the Consumer Protection Act, it is mandatory to label essential beverage products such as milk with information about production, quantity, quality, and other relevant details.

However, the department says that the mentioned dairy did not adhere to these regulations and the said milk without any label was also destroyed.
