Kathmandu, August 30
The Nepal Student Union (NSU), the student wing of the Nepali Congress, staged a protest in front of the Office of the Vice Chancellor at Tribhuvan University, Balkhu, on Wednesday.
The protest was held in response to the recent surge in fees for degrees in the IT sector, made by the Institute of Engineering (IOE).
The gathered NSU leaders and members also aimed to draw attention to the condition of Sulabh Chapagain, an NSU leader who is holding a fast-unto-death.
Speaking at the protest, NSU leader Madan Upadhyay said, “We demonstrated outside the Prime Minister’s residence and Pulchowk Campus. We want the VC to open his eyes, address our demands and decrease the fee without resistance. To give him that message, we have conducted this symbolic protest today.”
