Kathmandu, April 24
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and agreement related to bilateral investment and cooperation has been signed between Nepal and Qatar.
After the bilateral meeting between Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, an agreement was signed at The Soltee Hotel in Kathmandu.
According to Rupak Sapkota, Foreign Affairs advisor to the Prime Minister, an agreement has been reached between the two countries to cooperate in the government news agency, attorney general’s office, diplomatic training and studies, education, art and culture, and sports.
Similarly, two agreements have been signed between the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI).
After this program at Hotel Solti, the Qatari team will participate in the luncheon organised by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at Hotel Dwarika. After that, the Qatari team is scheduled to return home this afternoon.
The Emir of Qatar came to Kathmandu on Tuesday for a two-day state visit at the invitation of President Ram Chandra Paudel. He had a meeting with President Paudel on Tuesday evening and also attended a dinner held at Shital Niwas.
On the occasion of the Emir of Qatar’s visit to Nepal for the first time, the government declared a public holiday across the country on Tuesday.
