Kathmandu, June 20
The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) is bringing in new rules to manage the aviation sector.
Airline companies from now on will have to set an operating base and start and end their flights from the respective airport it chooses as their base.
As of now, almost all airline companies park their aircraft at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu even though most of them have set a different airport as their base of operations.
Similarly, the CAAN has also made it mandatory for airline companies to have two pilots on helicopter flights when a VIP is on board.
CAAN is also planning to install software to inspect the condition of the helicopters prior to taking off. It said that prior to taking off, it will check the weather, the duration of the flight, the experience of the pilot and the terrain the pilot will be taking allowing a flight to take off.
