Kathmandu, September 15
The Kasthamandap Reconstruction Campaign has called stakeholders including Nepali Army, Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Department of Archaeology to preserve rubble collected from buildings of archaeological importance which collapsed and were destroyed in the 2015 earthquake.
The Campaign’s Chairperson Birendra Bhakta Shrestha says its team found that Nepali Army personnel were throwing rubble from such monuments, which was kept at Tundikhel of Kathmandu, like other rubbish.
He says some saddle stones were found to be missing.
The Campaign has said it is ready to assist the concerned authorities by providing necessary human resources in the management of the rubble.
Shrestha, meanwhile, warns that locals of Kathmandu will resort to protests if they fail to pay attention to preservation of such historical and archaeological properties.
