Kathmandu, October 25
The Election Commission is distributing election symbols to candidates of provincial and federal parliamentary elections under the first-past-the-post election system on Wednesday.
The candidates had filed their nominations on Sunday. After collecting complaints against the names and carrying out an investigation, the Commission is publishing the final list of contenders today itself.
Before publishing the final list, the Commission has allowed them to withdraw names from 10 am to 1 pm today.
Around 800 candidates are in the fray for 111 positions including 37 federal Parliament members and 74 provincial ones.
Total 32 districts of mountainous and high hill regions will hold the polls on November 26 in the first phase whereas other 45 districts will hold the elections on December 7 in the second phase.
