Can’t go back from unification plan: Dahal

Kathmandu, April 20

CPN-Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal says he and his party cannot move back from its decision to unify with the CPN-UML as the process has already achieved some progress.

Dahal’s statement comes a couple of days after the two parties concluded that the merger announced be announced next week as planned after they could not settle crucial issues including the unified party’s election symbol and ratio of two parties in the new organisation.

However, the leader says he will hold serious discussions with the UML, especially its Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, in a bid to forge an agreement at the earliest.

Dahal says he is active in clearing all doubts over unification created due to the working style of some UML leaders.

The leader was speaking with a group of his cadres who went to his residence in Khumaltar of Lalitpur for a meeting this morning.
