Kathmandu, June 11
A high agricultural official of the country has said Nepali farmers will not get chemical fertilisers in the local market as much as they want for at least next 1.5 months, due to supply obstructions caused by the lockdown.
Agriculture Secretary Rajendra Prasad Bhari says efforts of the ministry, however, are still underway to solve the problem as soon as possible.
The ministry had planned to distribute 450,000 metric tonnes of fertilisers among the farmers. However, 150,000 tonnes of them are waiting to be brought to Nepal at various Indian ports, according to the ministry.
As the monsoon is beginning, farmers across the country have started planting various crops. But, they have not got sufficient fertilisers.
