Kathmandu, April 23
Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Yu Hong, on Monday called on CPN-UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal and expressed her concerns over the delay surfaced in unification between CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre.
Nepal is the Foreign Department Chief of the party. Yu had gone to Nepal’s Koteshwor residence for the meeting.
During the meeting, the envoy also discussed possible cooperation between two neighbours under the Belt and Road Initiative also, according to UML’s Publicity Department Secretary Bishnu Rijal.
Rijal added that Yo had also asked Nepal about the country’s priorities for the BRI. In response, the former Prime Minister said foreign affairs ministers of two countries recently held a harmonious discussion about the issue expressing his hope that both the countries would benefit from the cooperation.
He stressed that road connectivity could be the most beneficial for Nepali people under the BRI.
On the occasion, the Ambassador hinted that Beijing could increase its support to Nepal as Nepal now had a more stable government with a hope that its development policies would not change too much.
