The Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL) witnessed exciting action on its opening day on Tuesday as Chitwan Shakti and Lalitpur Queens emerged victorious in their respective matches.
Chitwan Shakti secured a 3-1 set win over Gandaki Thunders in the final match of the day. Despite losing the second set, Chitwan dominated the game with scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, and 25-17. Key player Surya Sarasuri’s spike sealed the third set for Chitwan, and they maintained control in the fourth set, earning their first 3 points of the league.
In an earlier match, Lalitpur Queens also made a strong start by defeating Kathmandu Spikers with a 3-1 set victory. The Lalitpur team showcased resilience, winning the match with scores of 25-20, 21-25, 25-23, and 25-17. Captain Salina Shrestha led her team to success despite facing challenges, including an injury to a key player.
The league’s second day will feature three matches, with Gandaki taking on Karnali, Kathmandu facing Chitwan, and Lalitpur battling Madhesh in the final match.
