Kathmandu, October 23
Cinema halls are now prohibited from selling water and food at prices higher than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) within their premises. The Department of Commerce, Supplies, and Consumer Protection issued a notice warning that legal action will be taken if items are sold above the MRP.
On Monday, a discussion and interaction took place between the department and the Nepal Motion Picture Association regarding this issue. “The discussion aimed to promote a clean and competitive market and protect consumer rights,” the department stated in its notice.
The department also mentioned that market monitoring has been intensified, with special monitoring teams deployed to ensure compliance, particularly during the festive season.
