CJ appointment: Parliamentary hearing scheduled for Sunday

The Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee on Friday has decided to conduct a hearing on the complaints filed against Chief of Justice nominee Cholendra Shumsher Rana on Sunday, December 30.

The decision was made after a meeting of the panel consisting of members from the National Assembly and the House of Representatives on Friday.

A total of nine complaints against Rana. Complainants have questioned decisions passed by Rana while he served on the benches of the Supreme Court, the Special Court and appellate court.

Some of the complaints have demanded his impeachment and others have demanded investigations into his controversial decisions. He has been alleged to have taken decisions on various controversial issues under the influence of financial gain and was swayed by the powerful.
