Clash in Rajpur, Rautahat during Muharram festival: 19 security personnel injured

A violent clash erupted during the celebration of the Muslim festival Muharram Tazia (Daha) in Rajpur, Rautahat, leaving 19 security personnel injured.

The incident took place in Rajpur Municipality Ward No. 6, Kudhiya, where the Muslim community had gathered for the festival, equipped with domestic weapons such as sticks, swords, and spears.

According to reports, the commotion started during the flag-raising ceremony of Daha, leading to participants throwing stones at the security personnel. In response, the police fired several rounds of tear gas to control the situation.

According to the police, disruptive activities and pushing occurred during the flag-raising ceremony. When the security personnel tried to calm the situation, the festival participants resorted to stone-pelting.

SP Bikram Humagain of the Armed Police Force, Nepal stated that 19 security personnel, including 17 from the Nepal Police and two from the Armed Police Force, were injured. The injuries are reported to be minor.

The police team was deployed under the command of SP Dilip Ghimire of the Nepal Police and SP Bikram Humagain of the Armed Police Force.
