Kathmandu, September 6
Members of the student wing of the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led CPN-Unified Socialist, a party in the current Sher Bahadur Deuba-led ruling coalition, have burned an effigy of Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, in Kathmandu on Monday.
They staged a protest in the capital in response to the Ministry of Home Affairs’ statement on Sunday, urging the public not to carry out any activists protesting India’s alleged involvement in the Darchula incident in late June.
In the incident, a Nepali man had disappeared after he reportedly fell off a tuin, a makeshift cable contraption installed across the river to cross it, as soon as an Indian border security staffer allegedly snapped it.
On Friday, members of the student wing of the CPN-Unified Socialist, a party in Nepal’s ruling coalition, had burned an effigy of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kathmandu. Two days after that, the ministry issued a statement and said the government was committed to solving existing issues through mutual dialogues.
