Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, has rejected her party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s offer of a ministerial position.
Sources say Oli met Tumbahamphe on Wednesday morning and asked her to resign from her parliamentary position so that he can induct her as a minister in the Cabinet reshuffle likely today.
However, Tumbahamphe rejected the offer saying she should not leave the House leadership vacant. The position of Speaker is also vacant since October 1, when Krishna Bahadur Mahara resigned after being accused of sexual harassment by a Parliament Secretariat staffer.
