Dhanusha, March 13
Five persons died after consuming home-brewed alcohol in Kshireshwar municipality of Dhanusha district in southeast Nepal on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Mahendranagar Area Police Office of the district identifies the deceased as Brahmadev Yadav (35), Bilas Mandal (40), Gudri Mahara (65), Ram Narayan Mahara (36), and Raju Mahara (30), all residents of Ramdaiya, Kshireshwar-2.
Police inspector Pappu Nayak says they were thought to have had natural deaths initially, but later investigations revealed that the alcohol was the cause of the deaths.
The first three deaths were reported on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, one person fell critically ill after consuming alcohol and he has been sent to a Dharan-based health facility.
The bodies of the deceased are awaiting postmortem at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpurdham.
