Visitors to Dharahara will now be required to pay an entry fee starting today (November 24). Parking within the premises will also be chargeable.

Previously opened for free on Constitution Day (September 20) as a trial, the decision to impose charges was approved in last Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

As per the Cabinet decision, visitors have to pay Rs 200 per person to ascend Dharahara. However, students, senior citizens, children, and people with disabilities will receive a 50 per cent discount, making the ticket price Rs 100 for them.

Tourists from SAARC countries will be charged Rs 500 per person, while those from non-SAARC nations will pay Rs 1,000.

The charges are being imposed on an interim basis under the Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2081 BS. The Cabinet approved the fee structure proposed by the Urban Development Ministry.

Additionally, parking fees have been set at Rs 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs 10 per hour for two-wheelers. Visitors entering only the Dharahara premises, without ascending the tower, have to pay Rs 50.

For advertisements of national significance displayed on the Dharahara tower, a fee of Rs 5,000 per hour has been set.

Similarly, commercial video shoots in the Dharahara complex will cost Rs 5,000 per hour, while photography sessions will be charged Rs 1,000 per hour.
