Eight people died due to dengue in Dharan in 2023.
According to data, 2,353 cases have been reported in the sub-metropolitan city so far.
Due to the increase in infection, a separate dengue ward has been set up at the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences to accommodate up to 150 people.
A separate clinic for dengue is also being run at the hospital.
Umesh Mehta, public health officer of Dharan sub-metropolitan city, said the infection rate right now is 59 per cent.
Mehta added a search and destroy campaign is being conducted in Dharan to control dengue.
Dengue is spreading rapidly across the country.
